As a dedicated Upper 6th academic scholar at Magdalen College School (top 10 in UK), I am committed to support students through personalised and effective study methods. I also strive to motivate students to achieve their full potential by inspiring them with the wonders of science. Because as an offer holder to Imperial, UCL and KCL for Bioscience-related courses, I know firsthand the importance of drive and determination in achieving academic and personal goals. My goal is to foster confidence and a deep understanding for topics to not only excel in exams, but also to develop passion and interest in the subject.

  • Independently organised a 12-day placement at the Institute of Developmental and Regenerative Medicine, and Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine
  • Observed laboratory activities involved in the Human Pneumococcal and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) Challenge
  • Assays and work processes in human immunology: intercellular staining assay of CD3 and CD8 cells, live/dead stain, antibody cocktails (fluorochrome antibodies), flow cytometry (IgA vs. IgG), concepts of clinical trials and negative / positive controls
  • Molecular methods: checking blood agar for pneumococcal colonisation (Draughtsman shape), check viral colonisation using PCR for viral RNA
  • Made PBS and PSA, plated samples from swabs and Gram-staining for hands-on experience

  • Observed castration, taking x-rays, echocardiograms, experimental treatment of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) using a newly developed drug, Remdesivir, and surgically widening stenotic nares of pugs.
  • Learnt about sedation and anaesthesia as well as pre-surgical preparations.
  • Held the animals while they are treated.
  • Gained valuable experience of euthanasia and communication with owners by shadowing a consulting vet.

  • Observed dental operations (removal of teeth), castration, removal of a small tumour, nasal inspection of a cat and fine needle aspiration (FNA) of a hamster.
  • Learnt about prevention of the transmission of zoonotic diseases and practiced packing and sterilisation of surgical equipment, gown using the autoclave and cleaning ET tubes.

Research Experience

August 2023 - November 2024 

Peer-reviewed paper accepted for publication in the International Journal for Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences (ISSN: 2278-5221) and invited to present by the International Conference on Advanced Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering.

  • Written under supervision of Dr Mohammad Mofatteh from the University of Oxford, focusing on antibiotic resistance.
  • Discussed the severity of the global antibiotic resistance crisis and investigated the various mechanisms of resistance of bacteria against antibiotics.
  • Researched potential alternative strategies for combatting antibiotic resistance such as immuno-antibiotics.


September 2023 - May 2024

Awarded prize for top 3 (out of approx. 40) for independent research project at school on the potential treatment of bacterial infections using apis mellifera’s(honey bee) bee venom. 

  • Designed and carried out experiments to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of bee venom and the inhibition zone of different concentrations of bee venom on 6 strains of bacteria.
  • Hypothesised and explained whether nanoparticles (liposomes) can be used to remove side-effects of administration for the drug to be used.

Extracurricular Activities

Mentor to Year 9 student

  • Organising weekly meeting with a student who is facing challenges in procrastination.
  • Discuss how to enhancing their time management skills including how to plan for post-school hours to allow for both academic tasks and leisure.
  • Explored how to set achievable goals without compromising relaxation time and emphasise the importance of socialising and active participation in school activities.

  • 8th place in the British National Championships 2021
  • 11th place in a British national competition in Alexandra Palace, London in 2022
  • Vice-captain for school 1st team and participated in a regional competition in 2022
