Covert Human Intelligence Source (Informant) Handler.

My role was to recruit and manage human sources of information to report on the highest levels of crime and public threats.

I managed people and budgets, collected information and disseminated the information in order that the source was protected. I have produced detailed reports which have, on occasion, informed Government strategy. (The proscription of a Terrorist group and the facilitation of illegal immigrants)

I worked effectively as part of a team and with partner agencies.

I have received training in various aspects of psychology, physical and digital threats.

I have worked as a response officer in Luton and Bedford and as a firearms officer.

The majority of my service has been as a Covert Human Intelligence Source handler. I have described this experience in the Police Staff section as the role was identical.

This work was carried out under the auspices of Special Branch and later as part of the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit.

I was an Advanced Driver and a Surveillance Operative.

I was also the unit Associate Trainer. I obtained a Level 3 Award in Education and Training and planned and supervised both classroom based and ”on the ground“ training.

For 20 years I was the unit Self Defence Trainer and I devised a package for officers in covert roles who could not carry Police equipment and had to remain in cover.

Clerical duties, such as being a cashier and other administration functions.
