I've been in the industry 24 years. I'm a pipefitter by trade and completed an apprenticeship with NG baileys back in 2002, I worked on the agencies for 12 years until I ended up working for Rentec Ltd. Rentec were impressed with my skills, knowledge and ability to get the best out of people so they asked me to step up as a supervisor. I have been working in this role now for 10 years. Being a pipefitter i would say my expertise would be Plantroom Installations. Experienced and certified professional with expertise in heating & Chilled systems, Domestic services, External services, ventilation, and air source heat pump installation and maintenance. I gained an NVQ in Heating & Ventilation, SMSTS certification, and a JIB Supervisor Gold Card. Proficient in BS9251 sprinkler installation and maintenance, with additional qualifications including Unvented hot water, IPAF 3a & 3b, PASMA, and first aid certification valid until April 2027. Dedicated to delivering high-quality work while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.

Monkey Island Estate is a 4 star hotel situated on a small island in the middle of the river Thames. I was tasked with the refurbishment of the 2 plantrooms.
Extremely complex system using the river water via heat exchangers to heat up or cool down (depending on the time of year) the glycol coming back from the water source heat pumps in each plantroom. The biggest challenge was that the hotel was still open to the public and still wanted hot water, heating and chilled.
I had to plan future works and communicate with the hotel manager to find out when it suited them for us to do a shutdown.
We installed new heating and chilled buffer vessels, hot water cylinders, pumps, heat exchangers, pressurisation units, expansion vessels and pipework (316 Stainless steel Mapress). The water source heat pumps were used as the primary heat/chilled source with air source heat pumps being used as a back up or if there was high demand.
I gained a lot more of an understanding of how heat pumps work and the parameters needed for them to work efficiently.
