Richard Carter

In 2004 I began as a Front line Police Officer in Reading reacting to calls from the Public. I have managed difficult work loads from Sexual Assaults to Serious Assaults, as well as supporting those suffering from Mental Health episodes and locating those that were reported as Missing. I have undertaken training to assure best practices when it comes to statement writing, exhibiting items and dealing with members of the public that are victims or a suspect.

In 2007 whilst at Reading Police Station I worked as a Neighbourhood Officer, managing all aspects of work that affected the community I patrolled. This work involved completing timely investigations, good communication and achieving results that enabled the community to have trust and confidence in the organization that I worked for. I managed PCSO staff on a daily basis to carry out effective patrolling and engagement with the members of public. I managed the PCSO aspirations to support them of becoming a Police Officer by completing reviews and updates on the computer systems that we used.

In 2011 I became a Acting Sergeant and managed Police Officers to respond to all crime incidents in the Reading area.

In 2014 I moved to Newbury Police Station as a Neighbourhood Officer and managed PCSO's and worked alongside external agencies such as Housing and West Berkshire Council to ensure good working partnerships to enable good outcomes for the community.

In 2019 I moved on to the Safeguard Team and supported Social Services in managing children that were involved in Child Sexual Exploitation and Child Criminal Exploitation. I was part of the Police lead in Child Protection meetings to identify concerns through good communication and being a valued member in making the right decisions to support and protect children from these traumas.

In 2023 I worked at Oxford Police Station as an Integrated Offender Manager. This involved supporting Probation Officers to support those coming out of Prison into the local community. I supported them by setting up their benefits, support with housing needs, transportation to various agencies that supported their mental health or addictions. Assisting them with family concerns and managing the license agreement that they signed so that they could be in the community. I managed twenty individuals that were highlighted as high as being criminally active on release from prison. As a result of my work I reduced those being a victim of crime. I effectively supported my clients so that they could be part of the community without committing crime.

At the end of December 2024 I will retire from Thames Valley Police.

In 2004 I started as a Self Employed Gardener and managed the gardens of several big properties. The work involved cutting lawns, hedging, border preparation for selected plants to be grown. I also managed simple maintenance tasks to the property that the owner could not carry out. I was reliable, hard working and I had good communication skills with my clients to ensure that the work I conducted was to their satisfaction.

I worked at the farm as a Pig Manager on 400 Outdoor sows. All aspects of pig Husbandry were undertaken to a very high standard. I managed staff who supported to ensure a viable business. I communicated effectively with owner, staff and feed representatives to ensure a smooth running of the herd. I set up the land and layout of paddocks to ensure best practices that enabled a viable business and Pig herd husbandry.

I supported the farm during the harvest period driving tractors and corn to the grain store and operating the fork lift handler.

I managed the record keeping to ensure that output from the pigs was efficient.
