RICHARD CARR

I am currently carrying out my role as a Police Constable based at Sellafield Nuclear Site and I am responsible for:

• Ensuring that I uphold the highest professional standards and I act as a role model to colleagues and members of the public
• Working in a radiological environment.
• Organising the shift rota and patrol strategy and attending operational meetings to obtain a clear understanding of the strategic firearms technical plan.
• Providing a 24/7 armed response, patrolling and protecting nuclear material and sites.
• Ensuring I am up to date on Policing and Nuclear knowledge.
• Making recommendations to improve and identified safety issues or concerns
• Patrolling local communities and working alongside local home office forces providing stakeholder and public reassurance when deployed on operations.
• Consistently displaying the highest standards, values and professional qualities at all times.

• Working as part of a team to ensure smooth operation of the production line
• This included organising tools and equipment
• Building effective relationships with others both professionally and personally
• I chaired meetings with health and safety representatives and engineers
• Preparing the workspace ready for manufacturing operations to ensure the quick and smooth running of production
• Concluding manufacturing operations and producing products by assembly operations
• Following and implementing Health and Safety policies within the working environment to ensure the safety of staff is paramount
• Using initiative to solve problems quickly.

• Developing my skills and knowledge by completing swimming and spinning teaching qualifications in order to teach classes individually
• First aid qualified
• Working as part of a team to ensure smooth running of the leisure centre and the ability to overcome problems
• Good communication skills with staff and customers to ensure a positive experience for all
• Able to follow and implement health and safety whilst in the gym and pool area, ensuring the environment is properly cleansed and prepared for its users
• Able to work under pressure and during stressful situations and can act appropriately in an emergency.

• During this time, I travelled to New Zealand and resided in the South Island, in the holiday resort of Nelson
• During this time I worked as a Scaffolder, Plasterer, and Labourer.
