• I volunteered at St Mary’s Care Home
• My roles include talking and engaging with residents, assisting at meal times and moving them around the house

• I was entrusted with admin tasks such as data inputting, document filing and dealing with office telephone enquiries

• During my work experience at the GP practice, I gained an insight into admin related tasks and was able to familiarise myself in a healthcare-based environment
• My roles included answering the telephone, booking appointments and updating patient records

• I worked in a mixed NHS/private dental practice for 2 years as a registered dental nurse, post graduating.
• I followed practice procedures and protocols to maintain patient confidentiality whilst assisting the dentist in charting patient dental anatomy, pathology and screening to enable delivery of dental treatment.
• I offered friendly and efficient service to customers, as well as handled challenging situations with ease.
• I was a mentor for student dental nurses (from the University of Northampton) in the year 2019-2020 - which included training them with the clinical side of things and also doing the paperwork for their portfolios.

• I have seen and treated over 400 patients from a variety of age groups and background. I have had the opportunity to treat patients with complex medical histories, those with gingivitis and those with periodontitis.
• I have taken part in an outreach placement during my time at university, which gave me experience with elderly within care homes, as well as those from homeless shelters.

To list a few of the tasks I have undertaken during my 2 year course:

• Correctly administered local anaesthetic and adjunctive therapies such as fluoride treatments and irrigation - Under prescription from my clinical educator.
• Exposed, developed and mounted both intraoral and extraoral dental x-rays.
• Screened patients for signs of oral cancer, lesions or disease by visually and manually inspecting mouth and gums.
• Applied fluoride and dental sealants to protect patients' teeth from decay.

I have worked at a variety of dental practices, both NHS and private, as well as a few specialist practices.

I have carried out mainly general nursing as well as some orthodontic nursing during my time.

During this, I have gained the skill to adapt to my environment quickly and to also work with different people from different backgrounds and beliefs.
