Darren Kelly

During the summer of 2019 I was handpicked by my school to go and do a few weeks work experience at Skipton Fire Station. Here I learnt many skills and as it was my first time having any type of job/work experience I had to develop them quickly which I was able to do. I also got taught the importance of how to maintain a good attendance record and consistently perform. Another important feature I was shown was how to work in a team very effectively, as this is very important as a firefighter. I was also given first aid training here and given certificates for it.

At this job I was employed to work during the summer as a customer assistant, I learnt many new skills such as talking and interacting with customers. I spent all day helping customers finding what they needed and helped them resolving their issues. So my skills got very developed in this area very quickly. I also got a small amount of training on till so also developed my skills in this area too.

At Lizzie Lizzie's I was responsible for many jobs. During my time here we were very understaffed for a majority of it so I feel very confident in my ability to work under pressure and at a high intensity. Here I took on the role of plating up food for the restaurant, which has really developed my understanding of the importance of how food looks for customers. I also increased my training on taking orders, working on tills here and providing excellent and efficient customer service so I am fully confident in my ability to do so. I was well respected here and when the supervisor wasn't in the workplace at the time I was expected to take charge and keep everything flowing.
