
Junior Clinical Fellow with experience in General Internal Medicine, currently working in rotational posts across multiple medical specialties at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. Skilled in patient assessment, clinical procedures, and acute care, including participation in the acute medical on-call rota. Actively involved in organising and delivering bedside teaching for medical students, as well as contributing to audits, multi-centre research projects, and publications in PubMed-indexed journals. I am keen to further develop my expertise in Internal Medicine, which is the specialty I intend to pursue long-term, and to continue building my skills in both clinical practice and medical education.
Currently working as a Junior Clinical Fellow in General Internal Medicine. This is a rotational post across various medical specialties, with each rotation lasting four months, alongside participation in the acute medical on-call rota.
My duties include:
- CLINICAL
1) Attend daily ward rounds independently and participate in consultant-led ward rounds, reviewing patients and contributing to management plans.
2) Request and interpret investigations including blood tests and imaging , and act accordingly.
3) Perform a range of clinical procedures , including ultrasound-guided venipuncture, cannulation in patients with difficult access, ascitic drains, knee aspirations and lumbar punctures under supervision.
4) Participate in the General Medicine on-call rota (long days, nights, and twilight shifts), where I am part of the arrest team, taking on roles such as performing A-E assessments, CPR, defibrillation, and establishing IV access.
5) Clerk new admissions from the Emergency department, perform comprehensive assessments, and present cases during consultant led post-take ward rounds.
6) During night shifts, I cover the stroke bleep, working closely with the stroke assessor nurse to examine patients, perform NIHSS scoring, and discuss cases with the stroke consultant. I have performed thrombolysis when clinically indicated.
7) Manage deteriorating patients on the ward with support from the medical registrar.
8) Respond to ward bleeps during second on-call shifts, covering multiple medical wards out-of-hours and taking appropriate actions based on clinical need.
- ADMINISTRATIVE
1) Prepare discharge summaries and TTO prescriptions.
2) Complete death summaries and certificates in liaison with medical examiners.
- OTHERS
1) Communicate with patient's next of kin to provide updates on diagnosis, prognosis, and care plans.
2) Attend weekly ward teaching sessions and medical grand rounds.
3) Contribute to bedside teaching for Year 3 medical students from Kent and Medway Medical School.
4) Participated in two cycles of an audit.
5) Currently involved in multi centre research project SABRE IBD in collaboration with the Gastroenterology department.
6) Involved in hosting a staff talent show alongside the trust's wellbeing team.

Aim and measure of change: To assess whether PPI prescriptions in the ward are in accordance with the indications outlined in the NICE guidelines. To evaluate if patients on PPI prior to admission were reviewed during th eir hospital stay and analyse whether they developed any side effects to it.
Aim and measure of change: To enhance early detection and management of Acute Kidney Injury, improving patient outcomes through optimisation of the initial clerking process, ensuring appropriate handling of high-risk medications contributing to AKI, and analysing and optimising documentation practices.
Aim and measure of change: To enhance patient safety and improve clinical outcomes by implementing a standardised procedure checklist for all departmental procedures.
