  • As a Laboratory Assistant, I was playing a vital role in our team by managing various tasks related to sample handling and processing. My responsibilities will include receiving, sorting, and numbering incoming samples and request forms. I will accurately enter specimen and request form details into our laboratory information systems, ensuring patient demographics are verified.
  • I am trained to process cancer patients blood sample from Macmillan Centre. I am aware of checking the cancer treatment cycle and upload and monitor the results respectively. I have knowledge about clinical trials and how does it work and I process sample accordingly.
  • Additionally, I will be involved in the pre-analytical preparation of specimens, such as labeling, centrifugation, and aliquoting of serum, following laboratory protocols. Basic screening tests will also be conducted under direction. After analysis, I will handle sample storage, cataloging, and booking.
  • Operating laboratory analyzers and equipment, performing maintenance, cleaning, quality control, and troubleshooting are integral parts of the role. I will also be responsible for disinfecting laboratory areas or equipment, handling spillages, and preparing reagents and chemicals as needed.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work station, along with recording daily fridge and freezer temperatures, is essential. I will also assist in sorting, logging, and dispatching samples to other hospitals, as well as collecting samples from various hospital departments or areas.
