After 40 years experience as a Joiner and having had a number of years in a working Foreman's role I made the move into a managerial role as Project Manager in November 2021.The knowledge acquired during those years has given me a good understanding of high quality building practice that I've been able to take forward into this relatively new role.
In a short space of time I've become adept at planning, directing and maintaining operations on a whole host of projects.I'm a very motivated individual who's as comfortable working as a team as much as having to work on my own initiative.
I took up the position of Project Manager for a private client to manage and over see the refurbishment of a large 6 bedroom Edwardian property.
This has been a complex refurbishment with the property being stripped back to brick throughout, with major changes made both internally and externally.
My role has included liaising with the Client and design team, obtaining all quotes for the proposed works and managing the numerous sub contractors on a day to day basis along with a tight control on all Health and Safety issues.
Working to detailed drawings with tight schedules and recognising the clients budget to provide a luxurious property. This has meant having a keen eye for detail to ensure that the project is completed to the highest of standards.
My current role as Project Manager is for an Interior design & build company based in Dobcross,Oldham.
We deliver very high end projects for our clients, in both the domestic and commercial sector.
Prior to any works commencing I'm in contact with Structural engineers and Building inspectors where necessary to ensure all requirements are met including making Health and Safety assessments where appropriate along with passing on the relevant information to the client.
From there on my role in the projects consists of liaising with contractors prior to quotation, preparing quotations, planning schedules of works and organising pre site meetings.
Once the projects start I'm on site each day with the contractors overseeing works and paying particular attention to detail and build quality etc to ensure that we deliver the high end finish that our clients expect from us.
1st,2nd & final fix duties in a supervisory role on New housing developments for various house building contractors ie Redrow Millers Keepmoat and Story homes to name but a few.
My prime responsibilities are carrying out inductions on Joiners arriving on site and briefing them on Health & Safety,Along with monitoring progress and quality to ensure we're all producing work to a high standard throughout in compliance with NHBC regulations & expectations. At the same time working closely with Site managers & Contract managers to work within the given time frame.
Undertaking all aspects of Joinery along with general building works
on residential and commercial properties on a self employed basis.
Liaising with clients and suppliers to enable all works to be carried out
in the given time frame.
1st 2nd and final fix duties on numerous New housing developments.
Manufacturing items for the Hospitality sector mainly the refurbishment
of Pubs Hotels and Restaurants along with the fitting of said items on site.
Overseeing the smooth running of a busy Joiners workshop.Ensuring the production and delivery of high quality items to the hospitality sector.
Predominantly workshop based Joiner producing items for the hospitality sector.
Began a 4 year Indentured Apprenticeship. Learning the required skills to produce high quality fitting for various clients mainly Banks & Post Offices.
I attended Oldham College of Technology on a day release basis culminating in obtaining a City & Guilds Joinery qualification.
