Electrical controls workshop supervisor

BLACKROW GROUP
GRIMSBY
2021.01 - 2023.01
  • After becoming qualified in 2020 I was ready for a new challenge in 2021 and an opportunity came around working for backrow in a fully workshop based environment. At first it was challenging as it is a completely different line of work/industry to what I had always been used and it was also very quick turnarounds on jobs, however a month in I was up to speed.
  • I would work with my team of electricians and apprentices to ensure all jobs got completed to the highest standard and on time. As a team we would get the control panels built to a drawing and then I would test the control panel to ensure it was correct to the drawings, I would also liase with the design team with any potential issues I found with the design. Once tested, the panel was ready to go back on the workshop floor to be connected to the machinery or conveyor systems it was feeding and once it was ready for power I would fully commission the system alongside the electrical design team and mechanical design team so the system was ready for a seamless install on site. This whole process was all in aid of ensuring time on site was minimal and the commissioning on site was minimal.
  • control panel building
  • machinery wiring and containment
  • machinery commissioning
  • machinery and control panel fault finding

Controls electrician/installation electrician

ELECREF LTD
GRIMSBY
2016.01 - 2021.01
  • Time served electrician. My time at ELECREF LTD was spent 50% in the workshop building control panels mainly going into the industrial refrigeration industry and 50% on site installing the control panels. My time here gave me a really good insight into how we can use and design control panels to suit all client’s needs as well as giving me a lot of knowledge on how systems operate efficiently for the customer but are more importantly completely failsafe under fault conditions to ensure nobody is harmed.
  • installing primary containment runs in ladder racking and heavy duty trunking supported with uni strut bracket work
  • installing secondary containments runs in heavy duty tray and galvanised and pvc conduit all tray bends fabricated by hand.
  • pulling multicore swa cables in around the system following field connection sheets
  • junction boxes mounted on primary containment and then wired out in various cable types along secondary runs
  • glanding and terminating all control panels and instrumentation
  • commissioning refrigeration plants
