As a Preschool Assistant Teacher, I support the delivery of high-quality early years education by creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, play, and develop essential life skills. I work closely with the room leader to support children’s learning, behaviour, and wellbeing in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

My responsibilities include supporting children with their daily routines, personal care, and emotional needs, ensuring every child feels secure, valued, and confident. I assist in planning and delivering engaging play-based activities that promote children’s communication, physical development, early literacy, numeracy, and social skills.

I observe and record children’s progress, helping to identify individual learning needs and support children who may require extra help. I also support children with special educational needs and those learning English as an additional language, ensuring inclusion and equal access to learning.

I maintain a clean, safe, and organised learning environment, follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures, and communicate positively with parents and colleagues to support each child’s development and wellbeing.

I was responsible for planning and delivering engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons that supported students’ understanding of key scientific concepts across junior and senior secondary levels. I taught topics in Biology and Integrated Science, ensuring lessons were practical, interactive, and accessible to learners with different abilities.

I played a key role in preparing students for high-stakes external examinations, particularly the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) and JAMB. For over four years, I provided targeted revision sessions, exam-focused teaching, past-question practice, and individual academic support to help students improve their performance. Through consistent monitoring, feedback, and differentiated instruction, many of my students achieved strong results and successfully progressed to higher education.

I used a range of teaching strategies, including demonstrations, experiments, group work, and continuous assessment, to track progress and identify learning gaps. I also supported students with weaker academic backgrounds by providing additional tutoring, study skills guidance, and motivation to build their confidence in science.

In addition, I maintained positive classroom discipline, promoted curiosity and critical thinking, and worked collaboratively with colleagues and parents to support students’ academic and personal development.
