ADX MP1000 Cookbook – Technical Lead
Author and maintainer of the ADX MP1000 cookbook, enabling customers to learn and effectively use the REST API functionality with the ADX™ Platform. Creating a baseline Postman collection relevant to the Web UI and python scripts covering how to collect, filter and export data. Designed to start at a basic level and allow the customer to build their own solutions / integrations.

  • Implementing best practice data centre infrastructure management tools to enable customers to effectively manage their data, analyse and optimise their data centers.
  • Manage all aspects of Data Migrations – Translation and Load of data between legacy and new DCIM tools via best practice / process and customised toolsets.
  • Own and maintain all processes and toolsets relating to Data Migrations and Data Management.
  • Review new projects, verify scope, advise Pre-Sales on viability of proposed solution, advise on alternatives, confirm timelines.
  • Design, Document, Build and Deliver bespoke solutions covering – Data Migrations, Data Management, Workflow and Reporting.
  • Testing UI Portfolio and Bulk Load functionality in all new DCIM Software Releases.

Data Migrations - Senior Technical lead / SME

Managing and delivering large scale and complex Data Migrations for large financial institutions and fortune 500 companies. Working with customers to identify and fix data issues prior to migration, modifying data processes to adjust to scope changes, project management, stakeholder management and project reporting. Implementing best practice, processes, and tools to manage the full migration life cycle. Adjusting to changes in timeline, tracking of changes and minimal disruption to business during production roll outs.

Data Migration Process (Internal Solution) – Technical Lead / Owner

Design, build, deliver, and maintain ETL processes to replace Informatica solution utilising internal tools as part of a global cost reduction exercise. The design leveraged the Aperture VISTA Workflow engine and forms to manage the ETL process for migrations. The data management elements were controlled via a complex set of SQL stored Procedures and queries. Limitations with tools meant that the REST API method was not available with this solution, requiring a new export process to be implemented. Using bespoke Trellis™ bulk import Excel workbooks populated via Power Query.

Overall annual project savings > $100k.

Data Migration Process (Informatica) – Technical Lead / Owner

Design, build, deliver, and maintain ETL processes to migrate data from legacy DCIM systems to Trellis™ using the Data Quality module from Informatica. Building multiple workflows (50+), using a multitude of transformation functions to extract data from SQL server / Oracle 11g, translate and manage data exceptions and load to Trellis™ via REST API. Implementing a new database / schema to store / manage data for multiple migrations.

Custom Reporting - Design, Document, Build and Deliver custom reports. Working with customers to gather requirements, advise on options, suggest enhancements, and deliver quality reports. Bridging the gap between DCIM out of box reporting and bespoke customer requirements. Reporting ranged from data extracts via SQL queries, to complex interactive reports / dashboards using Jasper Reports / Crystal Reports / Power BI.

Training - Delivering structured classroom Training for Inventory Management and Data Management or bespoke training specific to the customers’ requirements. Empowering the customer to own and successfully manage their data. Advanced training to allow customers to develop their own reporting, integrations, data management tools.

Managed Service – (June 2007 to June 2012) – Full-time on-site contract - SME

Long term engagement for a large bank based in London. Initial engagement was a 3-month project to upgrade UK entity from legacy to latest Aperture VISTA software, access and resolve data quality issues and deliver customer specific requirements. Professionalism and strong relationship management led to the customer implementing a managed service agreement over several years. Instrumental in migrating 6 regional instances into one global enterprise solution and integration with Remedy solution. Building Development, UAT, Production and Backup environments. Designed, built, and delivered a global reporting system using Business Objects and integrated with VISTA. Worked on key business initiatives focused on process, data management, compliance, and other customer specific projects.

Data Center Audits – Technical lead for large audits of asset, power, network connectivity data within data centers. Managing the full audit process from collection through to data load into Aperture VISTA. Regular communication to project management / stakeholders on progress and issues. Engagement lengths varied from 1 day to several months.

Data Migrations – Technical lead for several medium to large data migrations, managing all aspects – source data transformation, data quality, data load, change management, exceptions, project management and communication.
