Olivia Padmore

Work at both Potterrow and now Teviot (under EUSA) included the following skills: organisation, taking initiative, communicating effectively, working under pressure (more specifically when working during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), memorisation (for cocktails and 'perfect serves'), problem solving and teamwork.

Working as a university student at the student union has placed me in the middle of the university as an institution and its students and so I have gained insight on what is satisfactory for my peers.

• All the same skills required at the student union and some more, including more customer communication as working in the restaurant section of the pub calls for more conversation, not only with the customer but with the chefs to help food services run smoothly. We also take cash as well as card and so numeracy skills are required also.
• This is my secondary job as a student when I am back home from university during the holidays.

• Helping children (ages 5-13) to structure healthy and sustainable practice routines.
• Working with parents to help structure practice routines.
• Encouraging and motivating children during times of low motivation.
• Creating a safe space in-person and online during lessons.
• Memorising pieces my students are working on.

• Clearing and Setting tables
• Guiding guests to tables
• Toilet checks
• Helping bar staff close the bar (barback)
• Communicating with customers
