Duty Senior Nurse (DSN)
A highly motivated and organised professional.
I have always had a keen interest in looking after and helping people, this is how I became a carer to begin with, this position inspired me to want to go further in terms of knowledge and experience and I became a registered nurse. I then became curious and interested in the rehabilitation of offenders under the Mental Health Act so I took the forensic pathway.
My passion for forensic mental health stems from a deep interest in understanding the complex interplay between mental health and criminal behaviour.
I have experience in conducting assessments, formulating individualised care plans and conducting comprehensive risk assessments
In mental health one key skill to have is good communication skills, especially the listening aspect of it. I am able to build rapport with service users from diverse backgrounds, including those with challenging behaviours.
I work well as part of a team but also have experience in lone working. I value collaborative work and the importance of a multidisciplinary team.
My goal is to continue developing my skills in this area and also in mental heath as a whole with the hopes of contributing to effective rehabilitation programs that reduces reoffending and promote positive outcomes for both individuals and society.
