I will have completed a rotation in ICU as of August 2026. These are some skills I will have experience in:

• Central and arterial line insertion assistance, catheterisation, and other ICU procedures.
• Use of invasive and non-invasive monitoring techniques, fluid management, and vasoactive medications.
• Member of Critical Care Outreach team, identifying and supporting patients who are acutely unwell or at risk of deteriorating outside of the ICU.

• Proficient in the assessment and management of common ENT emergencies, including epistaxis, peritonsillar abscess, and foreign bodies.
• Competent in nasal packing, micro-suction, peritonsillar abscess drainage and flexible nasendoscopy.
• Managed red-flag ENT presentations, including stridor, dysphagia, and hoarseness, with awareness of airway compromise and timely recognition of patients requiring ICU escalation.

• Developed strong clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills through assessing undifferentiated presentations across all age groups.
• Gained experience in early recognition and management of red flag symptoms (e.g., chest pain, sepsis, stroke) and developed effective risk stratification and safety netting skills.
• Demonstrated efficiency in time-limited consultations, prioritising key information to guide management plans under pressure.

• Competent assessment of initial trauma assessment, neurovascular examination and recognition of orthopaedic emergencies such as compartment syndrome and cauda equina.
• Skills in simple suturing, knee aspiration, manipulation under anaesthesia and incision and drainage of abscesses.
• Experience in General Surgery on-call shifts, clerking acute surgical presentations including appendicitis, bowel obstruction and hernias.

• Assessment and management of acute and chronic respiratory diseases, including knowledge of handling patients on NIV/CPAP and tracheostomies.
• Experience in medical on-call shifts, including clerking and managing acute medical admissions, assessing deteriorating patients and working on the hospital cardiac arrest team.
• Experience in ABGs, ultrasound guided venepuncture and cannulas.

• Assessed and treated common geriatric issues including delirium, dementia, falls and immobility
• Able to assess mental capacity and facilitated best interest decisions, implementing the use of IMCAs when required
• Managed end-of-life care, including discussions around advanced care planning and escalation plans
