Skills

  • Cell searching- Part of keeping the staff and inmates safe is doing regular random cell searches around the prison to make sure that an inmate isn't hiding anything they shouldn't have with the potential to hurt someone i have conducted these on a regular basis both organising and taking part
  • Use of security equipment- I use security equipment everyday whether that be evidence bags for drugs found or cell keys to open and lock cell doors
  • Restraint techniques mastery- During training i took part and passed my basic control and restraint course which taught me the basics on how to defend myself
  • Self-Defence training- When i passed training and started in the prison i attended and passed the advanced control and restraint course which adds to the basic course with more advanced ways to restrain a prisoner without hurting them or yourself
  • Substance abuse understanding- I learned when i arrived at the prison that the drug problem was something that we needed to learn from and tackle head on to help prevent someone dying of an overdose
