  • Assisted in planning and executing holiday festivities, I have prior experience of work during seasonal periods, such as Easter and Christmas.
  • Conducted educational workshops as part of a team of speakers, delivering scriptures to an audience. Often times audience members were elderly and therefore hard of hearing, this taught me to articulate distinctly and therefore provided invaluable experience in catering to the needs of others.
  • Distributed food donations after each service, through this I developed a good understanding of the relationship between public and private spaces within an organisation, I was able to efficiently move between each which cultivated a newfound appreciation for customer service, and the care and attention to detail it demands.
  • Responded efficiently to needs of elderly residents, ensuring their well-being and safety, this ranged from as little as answering questions to escorting them outside in the event that they were unable to do so themselves.
  • I have been volunteering at church since 2018, this connection was facilitated through my weekly attendance to their Sunday School Program, and have volunteered at every seasonal service since. However since moving to Edinburgh I am unable to continue with this, and would love to spend my time elsewhere.

Additionally, outwith the church I attended a 2 day training program for MVP Scotland in my fifth year of secondary school, this volunteering opportunity was facilitated by Larkhall Academy. This training program equipped me with the skills necessary to deliver workshops to younger children about violence prevention. As part of this training program I also had to deliver a workshop-style presentation, with myself and two others, in front of my peers. Therefore this opportunity, unlike my church experience, improved my ability to clearly communicate with those younger than me and of the same age.

Through these opportunities, I have learned the value of customer service and working as part of a team, and am excited to continue my journey.
