Nursery Nurse

Busy Bees
Guiseley, Leeds
2016.09 - 2018.09

Cared for children’s daily needs, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing.

Assisted children during toileting, encouraging independence when possible, promoting hand washing, changing nappies for those unable to use the toilet, and discussing potty training with parents to ensure consistency between home and nursery.

Supported children during meal times by feeding those unable to do so independently, fostering their independence and confidence with utensils, encouraging polite behaviours like using please and thank you, promoting healthy food choices, and guiding handwashing before and after meals.

I also helped and encouraged children's development through play and activities, helping them to develop motor skills, both fine and gross, communication and language skills by encouraging speech during play with other children and myself as well as helping younger children learn new words and promoting the use of them. i would use phonics, songs at story time to help with this as i would encourage the children to join in, ask them what they would like to sing or read.

At sleep times i would help set out the beds for the children and ensure they had any comforters/dummies ready for sleep time. I would sit with the children and help them fall asleep, and once they were asleep i would make sure to record the time on the sleep charts, making sure that any child with limited sleep was awake by the correct time.

i would speak with parents during drop off and pick up to communicate information in regards to what their child would need for the day, how they were feeling, if they need to sleep, who would be collecting the child etc and i would speak about what their child had been doing throughout the day, what they had eaten, if they had slept etc.

Maintained a safe play environment for children, encouraging them to explore and take risks in a controlled manner. i would help with first aid if a child was hurt, ensuring the correct care was given and appropiate people were informed.

Facilitated effective communication among staff by sharing details about children's morning interactions and care requirements. i would also pass information to any staff coming into the room at other points in the day so they would be informed.

Nursery Nurse

Kangaroo Club
Ilkley, Bradford
2016.06 - 2016.09

In my role I helped to care for the children with their daily needs.

I would help children during meal times, such as feeding them if they were too young to do so independently, encouraging children's independence and confidence in using utensils, such as spoons, during meal times as well as promoting the children to use please and thank you and promoting the children to try new foods and healthy options, as well as helping the children to wash their hands before meals and helping them to clean their hands and face after meals as well.

I would help the children during toileting times, again encouraging and promoting independence where it was possible to do so. I would promote hand washing at toileting times and would change nappies of the children who were unable to use the toilet. I would also speak to them in regards to potty training and how they are implementing it at home so that it can be carried across both home and the setting to stay consistent for the child

I also helped and encouraged children's development through play and activities, helping them to develop motor skills, both fine and gross, communication and language skills by encouraging speech during play with other children and myself as well as helping younger learn new words and promoting the use of them. i would use phonics, songs at story time to help with this as i would encourage the children to join in, ask them what they would like to sing or read.

At sleep times i would help set out the beds for the children and ensure they had any comforters/dummies ready for sleep time. I would sit with the children and help them fall asleep, and once they were asleep i would make sure to record the time on the sleep charts, making sure that any child with limited sleep was awake by the correct time.

i would supervise the children during play, both indoor and outdoor to ensure their safety and to also encourage the children to take part in exploration and risk taking, whilst ensuring that the were safe whilst doing so. i would help with first aid if a child was hurt, ensuring the correct care was given and appropriate people were informed.

i would communicate to my colleagues about the children, such as if i had greeted a child in the morning and spoken to their carer i would them pass the information to the other staff members in the room. i would also pass information to any staff coming into the room at other points in the day so they would be informed.
