MAIN DUTIES (IN-PATIENTS)

• Providing antenatal and postnatal care to inpatient women.
• Induction of labour per trust guidelines using of Cooks balloon, Propess and Prostin.
• Drug administration (oral, intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous).
• Augmentation of labour per trust guidelines using a pump.
• Cardiotocography and vital sign monitoring.
• Performing vaginal examinations to ascertain cervical dilation.
• Management of women in all stages of labour. (Latent, active, second and 3rd stage of labour.
• Performing episiotomy and perineal suturing.
• Augmentation of labour.
• Pain management in labour.
• Bladder care.
• Taking part in management of obstetric emergencies such as (Post partum hemorrhage, Major obstetric hemorrhage, maternal sepsis, cord prolapse, caesarean sections - emergencies and elective, shoulder dystocia and breech).
• Identifying concerns and making prompt escalation to the multi disciplinary team.
• PET management - Magnesium Sulphate administration per trust policy.
• Providing emotional support to bereaved women and their families, helping them cope and make memories, involving multi disciplinary team.
• Supporting newly qualified and international educated midwives on the ward.
• Documenting notes, writing incident reports (datix) and completing proformas in emergencies.
• Delivered comprehensive postnatal advice, improving mother-child bonding and infant health.
• Taking patient samples and cannulation with consent.

• Helped manage third stage of labour effectively.
• Assisted in providing antenatal care to women with varying risk levels.
• Supported delivery processes for both high and low risk pregnancies.
• Provided vaccination services for under-five children.
• Facilitated family planning services for women.
• Aided in preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
