Additional Information

Throughout my time at the University of Salford, I have acquired a strong foundation in computer science that is continuously expanding. I have been programming in Java since my first year at university by building applications and solving programming questions. I have also been working with C# throughout my journey at university in my HCI, Design patterns, and VR&3D games modules, creating ready to use applications in my second and third year.


In my web development modules throughout my time at university I progressed from creating static websites with HTML and CSS to building dynamic and interactive websites using PHP and JavaScript. During my third year I have developed a Symfony web project that implements everything I have learned in web development and applies it to an industry standard web framework. I have also made use of API’s to retrieve data and have used REST api (GET, PUT, POST, DELETE) which works for the database attached to my website.


I have also completed databases and data mining modules throughout my time at university which has allowed me to manage large datasets and look for patterns in datasets to make informed predictions. I was fascinated when exploring data mining and learning the algorithms as it allowed me

to spot trends in datasets that aren’t immediately apparent.


For my final year project, I focused on developing an offside detection system in football using YOLOv5 for object detection. By using computer vision techniques, I was able to detect players and track their movements on the pitch. I combined this with OpenCV and Python to process real-time video data, identifying potential offside positions based on player locations relative to the ball and the last defender. This project challenged my understanding of machine learning and computer vision while improving my problem solving skills in handling real world data and optimizing performance for accurate detection.

My favorite hobby is football Playing football has taught me the value of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership It's a way for me to stay active and challenge myself both physically and mentally The sport brings out my competitive side and being part of a team is why I enjoy playing I also enjoy playing chess as it has taught me lessons in strategy and critical thinking Each move requires careful consideration, and every game is a challenge It is a hobby that has continuous learning as there are various different opening strategies to learn
