Research and Campaigns Assistant

Citizens Advice
Durham, Durham
07.2023 - Current

The cost-of-living crisis coupled with my own fervour for social justice inspired me to take on this role as I saw so many around me struggling and a government system not working for them. Citizens Advice was an opportunity to find out more about their struggles and finally be the change I want to see.
Highlights:

  • Conducting in-depth research on social, economic, and policy issues that affect the community. This research has enabled me to gain a thorough understanding of the student housing crisis and enlightened my team to the rising cost of access to education in primary schools.

  • Played an instrumental role in designing and implementing advocacy campaigns that raise awareness and mobilize support for policy changes by using my proximity to the Durham student population to speak to students directly about pressing issues, as well as gauge their feedback on them.
