3M Work Experience (Engineering & Product Testing)
- Took part in a 3M-supported placement focused on the design and testing of gas masks for firefighters, first responders, and military use.
- Gained insight into the importance of organisation, precision, and teamwork in safety-critical manufacturing environments.
- Observed laboratory testing procedures under the guidance of the leading lab scientist and engineer (Michael Ellison). I also created and tested a gas mask filter using a PFE machine
- Used CAD software to design a product model, which was later manufactured using an industrial 3D printer.
