I have been involved in Palliative care for most of my nursing career in bedded hospice and community settings, working my way up to CNS level. I have tried to always expand on skills and experiences which has enabled me to have varied roles. I think this has kept me motivated and innovative and I believe in making the most of each experience. I enjoy my current role of scar therapist which has enabled me to work collaboratively with South Bucks Day Hospice but feel I would like to build on this experience moving into lymphoedema.
I have returned to a cns role with Sue Ryder and this role has enabled me to keep updated with symptom control and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Prescribing is part of my role. The working structure has evolved to a teams approach to ensure better delivery of care and hopefully will develop further incorporating hospice at home.
