On this course I learned how to code using HTML, CSS and was introduced to JavaScript. I created a total of three websites and learned a little about the general principles of web design such as colour schemes, testing a website's functionality and how to make the site accessible to users.

This course gave an insight into the Hospitality, Leisure, and Tourism industry. This course included gained a personal licence for the serving of drinks for tourists in Scotland. Topics included food safety, customer care, personality types, conflict resolution, first aid, and different kinds of alcoholic beverage.

• This corse helped developed skills in lesson and unit planning.
• Demonstrated my proficiency in reflective practice. Developed a greater understanding of educational psychology and qualitative research methodologies
• Developed a particular appreciation for the philosophy of education and the use of the natural environment for teaching science
• Professional development completed in biology, chemistry and physics allowing me to teach these subjects up to S3 level
• Elected student representative for the biology student teachers to take issues to staff for resolution

• Learned about a range of genetic conditions from single gene conditions such as Huntington's Disease to whole chromosomal disorders such as Down Syndrome.
• Studied Bayesian statistics
• Familiar with reading academic papers, analysing data, writing reports and summarising complex data.
• Worked as part of a team on a series of case studies and gave presentations on findings.
• Gave a presentation to the incoming master's students about my time at university presenting to over three hundred students and answered questions afterwards.

This course helped develop technical skills for working in a laboratory including:

microscopy, spectrophotometry, plating up bacterial cultures, quality control, following Good Laboratory Practice and Good Manufacturing Practice, COSHH, Standard Operating Procedures, record keeping, and dilution preparation.

Soft skills developed included working under pressure, teamworking, networking, and presentation skills.

• Studied a range of subjects including genetics, environmental toxicology, microbiology and statistics.
• Wrote honours project on designing practical's for high school students doing environmental science. This required working with external bodies including a high schools and The Scottish Science Education Research Centre.
• My dissertation looked at Quorum Sensing in microbes.
• Whilst at university I was involved in the amateur dramatics society, was a student representative, helped my peers by organising tutoring sessions and I played D'n'D.
