

I am currently undertaking a Clinical Teaching Fellow post, which I will complete in August 2026, as I hope to develop my parallel interest in medical education alongside my clinical career. Over the next year, I aim to continue progressing professionally, either by extending my educational development through a further CTF role and undertaking a PGDip in Medical Education, or by returning to full-time clinical work to consolidate my experience before applying for IMT the following year.
Independent therapeutic and diagnostic pleural aspiration – USS guided
Management (removal, pleurodesis, flushing) of chest drains
Supported pleural drain insertion – including regular use of thoracic ultrasound and administration of local anaesthetic
Developed guidance for junior doctors on correct pleural sample labelling
Regular attendance at pleural and lung cancer clinics during foundation training
· Nominated for WHT Postgraduate Doctor in Training Award in FY1 (2024) and FY2 (2025)
· Received the “Went Above and Beyond” Award (2026) from the Undergraduate Department in recognition of exceptional support to medical students and contribution to enhancing their learning experience
My current post offers dedicated time for professional development and study leave. During this time, or over the next year, I am keen to use this opportunity productively and have contacted you to explore potential opportunities within respiratory medicine. I would be very interested in contributing to research, quality improvement projects, or gaining additional clinical exposure in respiratory medicine to further strengthen my commitment to the specialty.
· Assessment of correct use of oxygen therapy (Scale 2) [One cycle]
· Assessment and aim to improve compliance with the measurement of Peak Expiratory Flow Rate (PEFR) in the management of the active phase of asthma in adults [Two cycle]
· Assessment of LENT versus PROMISE scores as prognostic indicators for Malignant Plural Effusion, including evaluation of IPC management and patient outcomes
