As a full-time Physician Associate:

• Conducting patient consultations to manage both acute and chronic conditions, always working under the supervision of a consultant.
• Developing treatment plans by integrating findings from physical examinations and diagnostic tests.
• Writing referrals to appropriate secondary care specialties.
• Administrative tasks such as coding and actioning patient documentation received from secondary care and reviewing test results.

Worked for a couple of months as a HCA when I first joined the practice:

• Assisting with clinical duties such as blood tests and vaccinations.
• Reviewing long-term health conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, mental health and learning disabilities.
• Trained to carry out NHS health checks and Spirometry.

• Educated customers on lens and frame options according to their prescription, style and budget to aid in their decision-making.
• Provided warm, positive customer care whilst helping to decipher their needs and preferences.
• Performed frame repairs and adjustments for customer comfort.
• Created calm and welcoming atmosphere to relieve patient anxiety during eye examinations.

• Screened patients for their eligibility to participate in clinical trials, carried out recruitment process, collected trial data and uploaded data collected to relevant online databases.
• Worked both independently and within team to gather data on variety of medical conditions.
• This role was largely patient-facing, requiring excellent communication skills.
• Completed Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification and received training in clinical competencies such as venepuncture and carrying out COVID-19 throat and nasal swabs.
