Within this role I managed a plethora of different financial items, such as Purchase Orders ensuring that all Suppliers are paid and satisfied when they have delivered the service that has been requested.
Working in a team supporting Frontline Workers gave me a lot of experience with abiding by deadlines. I also managed to become an expert in a multitude of different tasks that were completed by my team and often helped train others. I had passed my apprenticeship in November 2025 - before passing my apprenticeship I had already secured a permanent position within my team at Essex County Council. In 2022 I was in Sixth Form as well as working as a Landscaper in my spare time, I was able to do this as I was working with Family, helping to satisfy customer needs. I have had to collaborate with clients to understand their vision turning it into reality.
Managing my own time efficiently is a major part of my role as a Business Support Assistant as I have to ensure that I complete all of my tasks everyday as well as attending meetings such as Continuous Improvement - where methods are discussed to improve the teams efficiency and make tasks easier This is useful in any role, being able to manage my own time to ensure that every deadline is met
Ensuring that my colleagues are able to complete any tasks given to them is an essential part of my role as it helps my team and our customers as our deadlines for completing different tasks become shorter as there are more people able to complete said task
Managing an inbox for my team has allowed me to see how much work comes in for my team to complete I have also had to ensure that I split work between team members evenly and help anyone within the team that may be struggling to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and giving other teammates opportunities to develop
Communicating with others is a major part of my role as without communication my role becomes much more difficult This is a good skill to have as it ensures that I am always asking the correct questions to get all of the information that I need to restrict how much back-and-forth is needed between me and others - whether this be customers or suppliers
Within my day-to-day job role I use a multitude of these packages such as Excel and Acrobat - my team is tasked with keeping track of any financial transaction The use of these IT Packages ensures that I am able to complete any tasks that I need - using Teams and Outlook is an excellent method of communication with others and keeping a track of what is needed
Improving different processes is a major part of my current job role as my team focuses majorly on time & cost savings This is an excellent trait to bring into any team as it means that I am constantly looking for ways to improve the method used to complete tasks, seeing which steps can be changed in order to save time or make a task easier to follow for others
I am tasked with ensuring that I can help our customers to my greatest extent within the bounds of tasks that we are supposed to do This ensures that within any role I will ensure to see what the customers want and do what I can to assist them
Prioritising my tasks to ensure that the most urgent tasks are completed first is a key part of my role - for example; if there were documents that needed uploading to a system and someone needed a travel code within the next 20 minutes I would complete the travel code first as the documents can be uploaded whenever but if the individual does not get a travel code then it could create some issues that are able to be avoided if it were to be done first
Maintaining accuracy is needed for my job role as some mistakes could result in GDPR breaches if they were not handled carefully, therefore it is essential that I stick to process and ensure that all documents are handled with care and no unnecessary steps are taken This is useful as it means that I am going to maintain accuracy when needed of me whilst completing tasks within any role
Supporting all new starters and team members has allowed me to improve my communication with others as well as refining my knowledge in the tasks that we complete Supporting new starters has given me an opportunity to grow my own skills and find how I can communicate with others and learn what is needed
