Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Award
I am currently taking part in the Cambridge Biology Challenge.
I enjoyed taking part in the schools ethics club and am now delivering the programme, within a small team, to other students.
As part of my Gold DofE, I am volunteering each week in biology classes with Year 11 pupils.
I have helped at a local after school club as part of my silver DofE. This entailed working with small groups of children, setting up activities, preparing food and cleaning areas to ensure the highest level of hygiene was maintained. I also was aware of what to do in the event of an accident or illness, following policies on first aid and safeguarding. I understood the balance of keeping the children stimulated within a safe environment.
I have also helped at Jamie's Farm, a charity which works with teenagers, primarily from inner city schools. The working farm promotes learning in the outdoors with hands on experience of animal care and healthy eating. I was responsible for the daily care of the animals and even got to deliver a lamb!
My real passion is being with animals and I have had personal experience with horses, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and mice!
I also enjoy a weekly game of tennis and am currently working on my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award
