Work history

Teaching Assistant

St Thomas More Catholic School
Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire

As a part of my work experience, I had the pleasure of working at my primary school.

I was tasked with delivering established classroom techniques by providing high quality practical support to teaching staff.

This marked the starting point of where I began to hone my communication skills as I cultivated close working relationships with students the teaching staff as well parents and carers

Student Radiographer

Princess Royal Hospital
Telford

During my first year of university. I had the opportunity to work with the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. This is was my first ever exposure to a medical environment whereby, I assessed risk of injury and implemented preventative measures to help safeguard people. Although most of this safeguarding was through diagnostic practices, a great value was placed on keeping a high level of hygiene to prevent the risk of diseases and is an apect that I truly recognise. This experience is where my communication started to develop, as I synthesised health-related information to help individuals comprehend diagnoses, symptoms and treatments and feel empowered through ensuring optimum understanding via effective engagement and conversation.

Student Radiographer

Leighton Hospital
Crewe

My second year of university gave me the chance to experience work at the Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust, in which I was based at Leighton Hospital. Here I was tested more as the environment of this setting was more busy and fast paced. This provided me with an opportune moment to solidify my communication skills under pressure ensuring that each service user was made to feel valued whilst still adhering to hospital safety protocols given the overloaded conditions. This also allowed me to recognise the value of team work and the importance of operating as a good team as a whole equipping me with excellent team building skills and a positive attitude concerning all areas of work.
