I have been learning Fanuc Mitsubishi software on Citizen Miyano 7 axis mill / turn machines for roughly 18 months.
I have been able to input machine data, change collets, load in tools and set the tools, load in the programs, prove out multiple jobs, edit tool offsets in wear and geometry to the drawing then run the job, lightly edit the program to suit.
I have also created my own training folder as I went along with learning the process.
I have also been learning how to set a Haas DS-30 mill / turn machine with live tooling. I have successfully managed to fully set multiple jobs on this machine but I have only been limited to jobs that only require the main spindle ( In two ops ).
This is also in my training folder.
During my time here I have also spent sometime on milling as an operator running various Haas and Doosan machines.
My role here was a CNC Milling Operator using a Haas VF milling machine with a pallet changer.
I had to machine batches of material to produce parts for well known automotive company.
I had to inspect the parts down to microns to a drawing using a micrometer and a machine and software to measure the profile and surface finish ( pp + pv ).
During my time here I also ran various lathes and a mill / turn machine on a operator only basis.
For a short amount of time I decided to learn the assembly side of things that I did enjoy but I also missed the machining side of engineering.
Unfortunately in November 2024 I was made redundant.

I honestly found this type of work to stressful and will never consider this type of work again.
I started out assembling and disassembling parts for prop shafts and driveshafts.
Then I progressed onto the production line where I was doing multiple jobs. Orbital welding using a welding lathe, Post straightening using a hydraulic straightening machine, Dynamic balancing - balancing the prop shafts on a rotational balancer, Paint spraying in a booth, Final Inspection to a drawing and paperwork.
I also had the opportunity to work on the preparation part of the process by using a Colchester lathe to turn out welds on damaged prop shafts, cut and prep the new metal tube, use a horizontal press and press all the parts together ready for welding.
