Summary

I am a compassionate, reliable, and detail-oriented individual who is keen to build a career in a role that provides dignified and respectful care for the deceased. I understand that this work requires professionalism, emotional resilience, and a high level of accuracy, and I believe my skills and experience have prepared me well for such a position.

In 2024, I completed a degree in Photography, which developed my attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to follow precise procedures. Throughout my studies, I learned the importance of accuracy, care, and maintaining high standards, particularly when handling work that carries personal significance for others.

I currently work in hospitality, where I have developed strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Working with a wide range of people has strengthened my empathy, patience, and understanding of the importance of treating everyone with dignity and respect, particularly during difficult or emotional situations.

I take pride in being dependable, punctual, and conscientious in my work. I am comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and I am always willing to learn new skills and undertake further training. I am also confident in using computer systems and would welcome the opportunity to develop additional knowledge and qualifications relevant to the role.

I am drawn to this position because of the important service it provides to families during some of the most difficult moments in their lives.

One of the experiences that first sparked my interest in this field occurred when I attended the funeral of a relative many years ago. Seeing her in an open casket made me realise how important the work of mortuary professionals is to the grieving process. I remember wishing that the person before me, more closely reflected the warmth and character I knew her for in life.

That experience stayed with me and helped me develop a genuine appreciation for the care, attention to detail, and respect that goes into preparing someone for their final farewell. It reinforced my belief that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion, and that providing families with a peaceful final memory of their loved one is an incredibly meaningful responsibility.

I would be honoured to contribute to that service by ensuring that every individual entrusted to my care is treated with the utmost respect, dignity, and professionalism.

Accomplishments

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award helped me develop resilience, teamwork, leadership, initiative and problem-solving skills, all of which I believe are valuable qualities within the funeral profession.

Photography Club Member

I continue to enjoy photography as a hobby and am an active member of a photography club. This has strengthened my appreciation of preserving memories and recognising the importance of celebrating people’s lives and individual stories.

Personal Hobbies

Outside of work, I have a strong interest in photography and enjoy exploring new environments through both landscape and event photography. I also occasionally work as a nightclub photographer, a role that requires professionalism, organisation, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments while interacting with a wide range of people.

Since graduating from university, I have joined a local camera club, where I regularly participate in group activities and photography competitions. Photography has strengthened my attention to detail, patience, and the ability to work methodically, while maintaining high standards and staying connected to others who share my interest.

Gaming is another interest of mine, particularly as a way to stay connected with people I can no longer meet easily due to distance. This interest led me to attend TwitchCon 2022 in Amsterdam, where I worked with SpaceTime Strategies, helping set up equipment and working front-facing to assist large numbers of customers throughout the event.

In my spare time, I enjoy music and attending live events, as well as playing golf. Although I am still developing my skills, I enjoy the challenge and the opportunity to spend time outdoors.
