Having performed in amateur and professional productions from a young age and becoming Head Girl in Sixth Form, I have developed key skills needed to work in a professional environment as a self-motivated individual. I am an enthusiastic learner, and whilst I enjoy working individually, I am also dedicated to working in teams to achieve the best possible outcome. As a dependable person, my skills centre around maintaining strong personable relationships with those around me, which I see to be valuable in any working environment.
During my work experience as Ysgol Rhiwabon, I experienced the realities of working in an underfunded profession with many children from a disadvantaged background. I spent the week in all different departments of the school, giving me an insight into the type of skills I was developing by assisting the teacher, helping the students and liaising with other staff.
In the week I spent at DGM Solicitors, I shadowed three different departments in the firm. Initially, I was placed with the Head of Administration where I was introduced to the mechanics of a law firm. I then moved onto the legal accounts department, where I was shown how to administer client money in line with money laundering regulations. I also dealt with the day-to-day running costs of the law firm, this is something I had never been exposed to before. Finally, I was paired with a solicitor in the civil litigation department. This included listening to conversations between clients, defendants and their insurance companies. Additionally, I undertook review of some files to understand the civil litigation process.
