Acute Stroke Unit 34B (23/10/2023 - 17/12/2023)

  • Strengthened my communication skills by requiring clear, compassionate interactions with patients who had speech or cognitive difficulties. Teaching me to adapt my communication style to support patients, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Responded to and interpreted neurological observations and assessments.

Surgical Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward 25A (09/09/2024 - 17/11/2024)

  • Facilitated the recovery of patients through constant monitoring and evaluation of condition.
  • During this placement I have gained a lot of knowledge through working alongside experienced nurses.
  • I gained confidence within my medication rounds, wound care, the role of the nurse in charge, documentation and mobilising patients that required specialised equipment or care.
  • High NEWS scores, raising concerns to doctors is something I had the opportunity to do on many occasions.
  • Post operative observations : understanding the monitoring frequency and protocol post op, recognising signs of deterioration and carrying out an A-E assessment.

  • Within my free time I love to go on walks particularly one nearby my house and browsing my local charity shops allowing for time to myself, further I love to play guitar , I am self taught and have been playing for 5 years using it as a creative outlet, I am a very creative person and also enjoy doing art in my free time indulging in my art books, I am currently in the middle of creating a quilted blanket. Moreover I am very passionate about muisc, I love attending concerts when I am able to, it has become a big part of my life and is used as an outlet / escape.
