Luke Kirkpatrick

I volunteer at CAS each Friday working from 07.00am till 12.30pm to gain work experience in the field of engineering and to support my ongoing T-level in Engineering i'm undertaking at Bury College. At each volunteer placement i carried out day-to-day duties accurately and efficiently. Demonstrated respect, friendliness and willingness to help wherever needed.

This summer i have worked for a well established construction firm Complete Construction LTD.

My role has involved safely loading and unloading construction supplies to facilitate flow. Assisted skilled tradesmen such as builders, electricians and plumbers in complex tasks during house builds. I have maintained a clean working environment to ensure the safety of those working alongside me and I adhered strictly to health and safety regulations, minimising potential hazards.

I have continued to develop in confidence working with a wide range of tradesmen, and learned valuable skills such as assisting in the assembly of scaffolding, using power tools safely and mixing cement.

This was a summer job i undertook after leaving school in which i worked as a warehouse operative for a family run alcohol distribution company. It was my role to pick orders correctly from the warehouse, load them carefully and safely onto wooden pallets, assist in loading each pallet onto the delivery van and to support a small team delivering these orders to pubs and restaurants within the local area.

I also performed general maintenance / cleaning tasks around the warehouse, to ensure a safe work environment.

I really enjoyed this role and developed skills in confidence communication and team work which i hope will support me in future roles.
