Throughout my adult life I have mainly worked customer-facing hospitality jobs that demanded maximum effort from me every day. From running the bar to training new staff; I learned how to work in a team, remain calm in stressful situations, and many other applicable skills to every area of life. My time studying as an undergraduate at the University of Strathclyde taught me skills that I wish to apply as I continue with my career. As I spent my final year working with semiconductor nanowire lasers, it is an incredible opportunity to further this work by investigating other photonic devices and photonic integrated circuitry. I find the work being conducted in this project to be exceptionally interesting and I am excited to potentially begin a lifelong career in research.
