I have worked within the NHS for 36 years which includes my training and time spent as a nursery nurse in special care and my ongoing career as a qualified nurse. During my time as a Community Nurse I have gained a wide knowledge of skills which are updated and refreshed continuously. I have a calm and methodical approach to all medical emergencies when dealing with my patients in all situations. I am looking at progressing my career and branching into a different branch of nursing.
Following a break from the NHS and assessing clients who are looking to claim a personal independent payment (PIP) I have found I am missing the clinical aspect of my profession. I therefore have a long span of clinical experience of assessing and caring for patients around a large variety of conditions and restrictions.
I retired in September 2024 due to requirement to look after my mother who was diagnosed with dementia.
Following a diagnosis of Alzheimer's and following concerns with my brothers health i moved my mum from the south east to give full support to her assisting with her transition following her diagnosis, I have managed all areas of her social medical and psychological health and wellbeing in the time she has been with me.

Assessed clients and documented information for records and analysis working on behalf of the DWP assessing clients who wish to claim for benefits. This involved assessing the initial application and triaging those at risk or who would not cope with a full assessment.
Once this is determined it is my responsibility to contact health care professionals the claimants themselves if appropriate and then complete a functional assessment of how they manage on a day to day basis.

Working in the community I work independently visiting my patients where I need to plan and prioritise my daily work efficiently while using effective communication skills with both patients and surgeries. I work as part of the larger multi - disciplinary team, as well as acting as a mentor for students and other members of staff as appropriate.

I am upto date with all mandatory training including manual handling and CPR

Within this role I was working alongside teachers and carers at a boarding school for young people with learning difficulties or/and challenging behaviours. I would escort the young people to appointments both GP, Dentist and Hospital and issue any prescribed medications. I was also involved with parents evenings and communications home.
