As a volunteer with the SVP, I have been involved in providing support to the homeless and poorest in the city. I help distribute food, blankets, and other necessities to the homeless in York. Furthermore, I participate in meetings in which we discuss and develop plans to improve our mission. This role has allowed me to engage with the poorest in society whilst improving my communication and organisational skills.
As a News Editor my job involved obtaining key information from the day's key news stories and summarising this to provide to the executive producer for the upcoming news bulletin. This developed my organisational skills as well as my ability to prioritise tasks and communicate with team members effectively.
My camp Counsellor Experience was an incredibly formative, challenging and positive experience.
As a Camp Counsellor in the United States I had a number of responsibilities that enhanced my skills.
I lead daily archery sessions, which required planning and creativity to engage campers of varying skill levels. I was also responsible for the well-being of my campers, ensuring they participated in daily activities, including meals and hygiene routines.
I have worked at Waitrose first in the spring and summer of 2022 and then returning on Christmas breaks from University that year and in 2023.
As a customer assistant at Waitrose I interacted with customers to provide great and friendly assistance while efficiently operating the checkout and processing transactions.
Additionally, I managed stock levels, maintained store cleanliness, and collaborated with team members to enhance the overall shopping experience and drive sales.
As a Camp Counsellor in Canada, my first time working abroad, my job involved several challenges and responsibilities. My day to day routine would involve taking my campers to meals and making sure a positive environment was fostered and maintained. I lead a number of activities ranging from sports to camp outs ensuring that each camper was engaged and enjoying their experience. My communication and organisational abilities were improved as I was often in an incredibly fast paced environment. Collaboration was essential to ensure to execute plans and activities.
I volunteered with my local Boys Brigade for a week away camping. In this I helped wit day to day activities, sat in meetings and lead and created activities.
