Summary

I am a motivated and hardworking 16-year-old with a strong interest in practical, hands-on work, particularly within the electrical industry. I enjoy learning through doing and have developed a clear understanding that I thrive in active environments where I can build skills on the job. This has led me to pursue a career in the electrical trade. I am currently carryout work experience with Burgess Electricals, I am enjoying gaining valuable hands-on experience and insight into the industry. As part of this, I have been involved in rewiring a garage installation, including installing sockets on a ring main and electrical wiring. During this experience, I have also carried out a range of site tasks such as crawling under floors to assist with cable runs, clearing up after electrical work that includes CAT6 networking and mains wiring, and preparing and organising tools and materials ready for work to start. This has helped me develop a strong work ethic, reliability, managing project requirements and an understanding of how to support jobs efficiently on site. I completed 9 months of sixth form studying Triple Engineering; however, I soon realised that a more practical pathway suits me better than a primarily classroom-based environment, I left this course to gain experience in my chosen carrier. I have also completed two months of site labouring work, which strengthened my work ethic and confirmed my preference for physical, hands-on roles. I particularly enjoy problem-solving, working as part of a team, and seeing clear results from my efforts. In addition, I spent six weeks working at Wareings Buildings in an office environment alongside the Managing Director and a Structural Engineer. While this experience helped me build professionalism, communication, and computer skills, it also reinforced that I am better suited to a more practical, active career. I am confident in asking questions when needed, proactive in my approach, and willing to take initiative. I take pride in my work, enjoy contributing to a team, and always aim to complete tasks to a high standard. I am eager to continue learning, develop my skills further, and make a positive contribution while progressing within the electrical industry.
