As an Agency Ophthalmic Staff Nurse I work in various health boards all over Scotland. This mainly consists of working as pre/post op nurse for patients undergoing cataract surgery and as ward nurse working in various clinics within outpatients.

My main duties include admitting and discharging patients, administering medication, taking blood pressures and blood glucose and ensuring patients understand their aftercare.

In the outpatient environment I assist the consultant in mainly Cataract, Glaucoma and General clinics.

Duties include Cataract pre assessment and biometry, Visual Acuity, administering eye drops, Octs, Visual fields, Topography, Autorefraction, IOPs, Ishihara and Optos images.

Within the theatre environment my main duties include : Pre and post op care of cataract patients, Oculoplastic patients, Corneal cross linking patients and patients undergoing minor op procedures. Within the OPD I assist the Consultants, Opticians, Orthoptists and ANPs in various clinics. These include all ophthalmic specialities : Cataract, Macula, Glaucoma, Corneal, Oculoplastic, Laser, Paediatric, Neuro, Uveitis, RAC emergency and IVT clinics.

My main duties include Cataract pre assessment and biometry, Visual Acuity, administering eye drops, Octs, Visual fields, Topography, Autorefraction, IOPs, Ishihara, Optos images, venepuncture and assisting ANPs during IVT treatment.

I have worked within the Ophthalmology Department for the past 14 years and my main aim within my working day is to provide the best possible care and experience for my patients. I work well under pressure within a team setting or independently. I am a very hard working well organised person with excellent communication skills and I work very well with all of my colleagues within the MDT.

I am a hardworking caring compassionate nurse who has a lot of experience within the Ophthalmic setting, and enjoy taking on a new challenges.
