My current position within the Ophthalmology department is Ophthalmology assistant, this is a combined health care assistant and imaging technician role My duties consist of supporting consultants, doctors and staff nurses whilst running clinics It's my responsibility to check the patients Vision, blood pressure, blood sugar, take medical history and current prescription information, check eye pressures using an icare and assisting patients with any general care needs they may have whilst attending appointments in the department such as assisting to the toilet I can also complete a variety of scans for the patients using the Anterion, Oct and Optos machines such as OCT Macular, RNFL, Angles, OctA, EDI, Optos, multicolour, AutoFluroscene, biometry I'm also fully competent in visual field tests and often run my own streams
