I am an experienced and compassionate Health Care Assistant with over 3.5 years of hands-on experience working on the maternity ward at Royal Surrey County Hospital. I have developed a strong foundation in delivering high-quality care with empathy, dignity, and respect—skills I am eager to bring into a new role.
My current role involves supporting mothers before and after birth, carrying out vital observations, assisting with mobility and personal care, and providing clear and sensitive communication around discharge and postnatal expectations. I work both day and night shifts, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to different demands and patient needs. I thrive in the postnatal care environment where building trusting relationships, maintaining patient dignity, and offering reassurance are central.
My interest in compassionate care deepened during my time as a COVID-19 vaccinator. In that role, I discovered how impactful empathy and calm reassurance can be for patients experiencing uncertainty or fear. This experience reinforced my natural ability to connect with people, motivate them, and make a positive difference during vulnerable moments.
In addition to patient care, I actively support new staff, offering informal training, guidance, and encouragement to help them feel confident in their roles. I take pride in being approachable, calm under pressure, and organised, and I value teamwork highly. I work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and escalate concerns appropriately, ensuring patient safety and continuity of care.
I am now looking to expand my experience into a different area of care.
I consistently complete all required annual mandatory training to ensure I remain up to date with best practices and standards of care. This includes Health and Safety, Fire Awareness, Infection Control, Information Governance, Moving and Handling, Basic Life Support, Safeguarding Adults and Children, Equality and Diversity, and Conflict Resolution. I also undertake PROMPT (Practical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training), which has enhanced my ability to respond effectively in obstetric emergencies as part of a multidisciplinary team. These trainings have strengthened my knowledge, confidence, and commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and high-quality care environment.
