Up to September 2022, I worked predominantly on-site as a labourer across a range of construction projects. This hands-on experience provided a strong introduction to the construction industry, allowing me to understand how building sites operate in practice and develop practical knowledge that would not have been gained from starting in an office environment.

In September 2022, I began a four-year Building Surveying degree apprenticeship. Since then, my role has focused on building surveying skills, developing skills in inspections, reporting, and supporting project work. This experience has given me a well-rounded understanding of construction's practical and technical aspects and I continue to develop my skills in the field.

Enjoyed working as part of the team in a customer-focused retail environment, gaining experience across a wide range of responsibilities. Trained in multiple areas including operating tills, fresh food preparation, stock replenishment, handling phone enquiries and managing reductions. Took on additional responsibility for Sunday fresh stock, coordinating tasks and distributing work among team members to ensure efficiency. Developed strong organisational and leadership skills, alongside a commitment to delivering excellent customer service, in line with Waitrose & Partners’ emphasis on putting customers at the heart of the business.

Gained hands-on experience in a busy hospitality setting, supporting both kitchen and front-of-house. Managed food preparation, cleaning duties and assisted during high-demand service periods, demonstrating reliability and a strong work ethic. Built excellent communication skills through regular customer interaction, contributing to a positive dining experience. This role provided a strong foundation and was an ideal first job, helping me develop confidence and key workplace skills.
