Accomplishments

    Bronze D of E Award

In year 10, during secondary school, I decided to take on the challenge of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award provided by my school at the time. As a part of this, I had to undergo 10 hours of Volunteering, Physical and Skills in order to take part in the final expedition which was 2 days and 1 night. I volunteered at a young scouts group called Beavers for an hour every week for 10 weeks, I learnt new practical skills along the way like knot tying, lighting safe fires and cooking food using the fire. I also learn many other social skills surrounding teamwork and how to lead a group personally in a great way. For the physical aspect, I recorded my training sessions and games for Littleport Rangers, still my current football club, for 5 weeks. After all of the above elements were completed, I went ahead with the expedition, I learnt so many new skills along the way, also building new friendships with peers which allowed them to support me and me to support them through the journey. It was such good fun and I am hoping in the future I can do an even bigger D of E award like the silver or gold.
