Summary

Self motivated, enthusiastic and hard working Advanced Nurse Practitioner and prescriber. I have a compassionate nature and drive to provide high standards of patient care. I am committed to improving patient outcomes and fostering a positive health care environment in my nurse practitioner role.

Having worked in my current position for 17 years I have developed my skills, competencies and scope of practice, it has evolved from a Minor injuries unit to an Urgent treatment centre. Prior to this my experience has been surgical focused and Accident and emergency.

Working in UTC my role involves the triage of adults and children as they present, assessing, diagnosing, treating and referring or discharging patients appropriately. Patients present with a wide range of injury and illness.

I am the champion in the department for domestic abuse and regularly attend courses and conferences to keep up to date.

I also work in a minor injuries unit attached to UTC, we work alone and with an appointment system.I work well within dedicated time frames and remain calm under pressure.

During covid I was deployed to work as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner on rehabilitation and care of the elderly wards in our community hospitals this involved assessing, treating, prescribing for and reviewing covid patients which also had chronic medical conditions and minor illness.

On returning to UTC I was involved in reviewing patients over the phone on the virtual covid ward and was also involved in the pilot of a nurse led AMSDEC within UTC.

I see myself as a confident communicator with the ability to ensure complete understanding by having the ability to adapt to suit the recipient. I feel I am approachable and professional.

I pride myself in being able to work autonomously or as part of a team.I am happy to take constructive criticism and value the opinions of my colleagues.

I am a registered prescriber and confidently prescribe within my limitations, I request and interpret x-rays within trust protocols.

I continue to be up to date with intermediate life support, safeguarding adults and children, legal and professional and other mandatory courses. I respect the need to follow local policy and processes.

I am keen to pass on my knowledge and in my current role often mentor nursing students, army medic's and new members of staff.

I pride myself on being loyal and punctual to the area which I work.I am keen to learn and expand my knowledge.
