  • Oversaw the operations of both the Recoveries and Third Party & Insolvency teams in the servicing of Funding Circle's defaulted unsecured P2P/B2B debt portfolios, comprising £250m loans under management across core lending, credit facilities, CBILs, BBLs and RLS.
  • Responsible for leading a department of 18, comprising 3 team managers and 15 recovery/insolvency executives, through a significant transformation project with the objective of scaling business operations and generating high-performance across people and processes.
  • Assumed accountability for the performance, quality of service and efficiency of all activities undertaken by the department, including the development and implementation of core productivity KPIs, ensuring adherence to TCF principles, Consumer Duty (where applicable) and best practice.
  • Devised a new, detailed end-to-end recovery strategy model to facilitate effective and commercial account progression and prioritisation according to recovery prospects based on bespoke financial criteria.
  • Enhanced servicing revenues by c.£3m per annum through collaboration with multiple business stakeholders to implement automation of default fee contributions from customer payments in line with contractual agreements.
  • Supervised the development and implementation of Funding Circle's Business Advisory Service in partnership with 5 insolvency and professional services panel firms, to support borrowers at risk of delinquency or default with tailored business advice/solutions designed to assist them in regaining financial health.

Accomplishments

    Head of Recoveries:

  • Built Funding Circle's debt recovery function from a headcount of 3 to 18, working with senior leadership to develop, implement and embed all core debt recovery strategies, policies and procedures, and ultimately progressing to Head of Recoveries within 5 years.
  • Increased average monthly recoveries performance (£) by c.100% to >£4m during the COVID pandemic through implementation of focused and commercial recoveries strategies and settlement campaigns, adapting to the challenges of the macro-economic environment.
  • Introduced and oversaw the successful procurement, onboarding and ongoing relationship and performance management of several key external suppliers of outsourced services, including debt collection agencies, insolvency panel partners and business advisory firms.
