I was an accommodation advisor within the West Midlands, working along side service users who are due to be released from prison or those who are in the community and on probation.
I worked closely along side probation to rehabilitate and resettle our service users into the community aiming to reduce their risk of reoffending.
Working one to one with service users to help secure them housing, access to the right services and putting support plans in place to assist them in the community.
This involves referrals into key agencies, helping them complete relevant paperwork, ensuring they have access into the key services they need in order to support their rehabilitation.
Many of the services users I worked with had very complex backgrounds, substance and alcohol misuse, mental health backgrounds and they would work with me and rely on me to help them through their resettlement back into the community and keeping them engaged with myself and probation.

In my spare time I used to volunteer at the dog training unit assisting in the welfare, day to day maintenance of the dogs and training of working police dogs.
I also fostered many puppies who lived with my family whilst they were training to become working dogs and had very hands on role with their day to day upbringing, socialisation and training until their were old enough to take part in their full time police courses.

Working with high risk victims, troubled families and vulnerable people with alcohol and drug misuse.
I managed my own individual case loads and worked one to one with victims of domestic abuse keeping them engaged in the criminal justice process and supporting them through the court process.
Engaging with partner agencies to maintain their safety, welfare and support.
Working one to one with victims to ensure they are best safeguarded, supported and appropriate referrals made to enhance this including arranging emergency accommodation for them and engagement with council and housing associations.
