Operations manager

AROQUA LTD
Lincoln, Lincolnshire
01.2011 - 03.2015

In my final year of studying for my A Levels, I acquired a position with AROQUA LTD, an engineering company. I started off in the office where I was doing general office tasks, and eventually worked my way up to operations manager. As well as office work, I would travel to the embassies in London to submit and collect visa's for the sixty engineers I was managing. It was fast paced, tight deadlines to meet, organisation was imperative for a smooth running process between me having to organise the engineers travel and accommodation, plus then needing to fill out the correct paperwork for the visa's and making sure everything was done correctly before travelling to London. If any mistakes were made it would mean costing the company thousands, so there was a lot of pressure. I thoroughly enjoyed working as an operations manager and the skills I acquired would also be used for the paralegal position. Other responsibilities included:

  • Leading teams to achieve business objectives on time.
  • Optimised workflow procedures with strategic planning and team coordination.
  • Maintained smooth-running business operations by delegating priorities to staff abilities.
  • Led and managed administrative staff to maintain smooth daily operations.
  • Organised travel for multiple engineers going to various countries at the same time. This meant being able to work under pressure with remarkable organisational skills.
  • Meeting strict deadlines to get visa's submitted and processed and back to the engineer before they travel, usually within a 24-hour time frame.
  • Having to organise my own travel and have exceptional planning as quite often I would need to travel to three or four embassies in one day, all with different time constraints for getting visa's in and processed, especially for urgent ones that I needed to collect the next day. This would mean very careful but quick planning to make sure all tasks were completed on time.
