Summary

Physics PhD student studying at the University of Bath with an interest in theoretical condensed matter physics, particularly in the realm of nonlinear light-matter interaction, such as second-order rectified current generation. Keen on the prospect of growing and applying my skills in algebraic and computational analysis developed in my work on optical response theory in new and exciting developments in the field.

  • Working in theoretical condensed matter physics, particularly looking at nonlinear light-matter interaction, such as the generation of rectified photocurrents and nonlinear Hall effects, or optically-generated atomic force, in response to two incident photons.
  • I look at the response functions describing optical processes, seeing how they depend on factors such as the intrinsic properties of the electronic band structure and electron-phonon coupling.
  • I am using both theoretical and computational techniques in my research. Theoretical approaches generally involve algebraic analysis and manipulation, but also include Feynman diagrammatic techniques, often derived from Kadanoff-Baym methods. For computation, I numerically evaluate the response functions by performing momentum integrals over a material's Brillouin zone in Python.
