During my placement I gained an appreciation of what it is like working on a large construction project. I was given the opportunity to read construction drawings, visited various work areas, and sat in meetings to observe how they are run.

I gained first-hand experience of how important health & safety is on a Morgan Sindall project, from attending the site induction & various safety briefings, to visiting works areas with the site safety advisor, all of which expanded my knowledge of safety on a construction site.

I received positive feedback from the site team and developed a good relationship with the graduate engineers.

And I found working away from home a very enjoyable experience.

General labourer on house refurbishments & extensions. Completing labouring duties for various trades such as bricklayers, plasterers, electricians.

During this time, I developed an understanding of health and safety such as safe use of hand tools, manual handling and using a PPE for certain tasks.

• Provided excellent customer service skills while working on tills and managed payments, cash and credit transactions.
• Adapted to changing situations such as a high volume of customers and deal with changes while remaining calm under pressure.
• Lifted heavy stock load to help customers, going above and beyond by assisting various customers to vehicles.
• Resolved customer complaints and unexpected issues, finding quick solutions to maintain satisfaction.
• Replenished stock & checked inventory levels and ensured products were organized and displayed attractively.
• Facilitated customers by staying informed about product details, sales and prices.
• Worked as part of a team to ensure shop operated without issues, and regularly achieving targets.
